Bratwurst, Cheese, and Beer for a Chowder... in a crock pot? YES! Are you looking for some great slow cooker recipes that are packed with flavor and easy to follow? If so I suggest you check out the new book by Julius Wellington which is dedicated to tasty foods prepared in crockpots. Slow Cooker - Crock Pot Recipes Guys Devour: Mouthwatering Crock Pot Recipes! - Not A Morsel Will Be Left Over by Wellington is now available as a digital download via Amazon in the Kindle format.

As a barbecue and grilling guy that’s dedicated to easy cooking, with a passion for low and slow methods, I can honestly say that I may now be a crock pot junky. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve cooked my fair share of dishes in the crock pot. But, I’ll admit that its main use comes during Super Bowl parties. Yep, you guessed it; heated cheese dip, mini hot dogs, or meatballs covered in sauce. Now I have plenty of more options to choose from thanks to Wellington's newest book.

Wellington, obviously a guy who loves to cook, takes slow cooked meals far beyond my recipe collection of basic crock pot party food recipes. His book is geared towards food that men like. Sure, a man or woman can do the cooking but the end products are man friendly. Here’s a few of the recipes that are included to give you an idea of what I’m talking about.

  • Bacon Wrapped Beef Tenderloin - Beef and Bacon... YES!
  • Cheesy Bratwurst Beer Chowder - A Chowder... with beer... and Bratwurst! GENIUS!
  • Beer Cheese Mac - Yep, a combination of beer and macaroni and cheese. Are you kidding me?

And yes, there are plenty of other recipes packed into the book that are perfect for your crock pot. Wellington includes recipes for soups, chowders, chili, stews and much more. In addition he has included several nice pictures of finished dishes as well as some insight on many of the recipes. He often does this with a dash of humor.

Here's an example: Some of the recipes that include alcohol as an ingredient - Willington jokingly proclaims “Under 21 Not permitted.” He follows up with a message reminding his readers that “It’s Five O’clock Somewhere” which is a shout out to Jimmy Buffet fans who are known as some of the most seasoned tailgaters and tailgate cooks in history!

  • Pros: I really enjoyed the diversity of the recipes. They range from classic crock pot to wild game creations with a bunch in between. I also like neat tidbits of info for the reader such as his tips for selecting a nice IPA or Stout when giving his tips on Corned Beef. That’s something I try to do with my books as well and Wellington obviously feels as I do. Recipes are more than just a bunch of ingredients listed with boring instructions.
  • Cons: I don’t really have any. I liked the book! If I had to pick something I guess that I would have liked a few more pictures because the several that are included are tempting.
  • Favorite Recipes: A three way tie for my favorite recipe. Pork Tenderloin with Apples: I’m a BBQ guy and I often use apples and apple butter with my smoked meat so I love a crock pot version. Cheesy Bratwurst Beer Chowder: I love this combination of flavors and I’m a huge fan of Oktoberfest cooking! And finally, Frenchman’s Pot au Feu: This crock pot version of a French classic is a winner. Pot au Feu is a traditional French stew commonly made with beef and vegetables. It has roots dating back to the 1500-1600’s. There are several beef, stew, and other recipes that are on my runner up list!
  • Extra Cool: Wellington includes some bonus recipes for the reader's sweet tooth!
