The ISA is Taking Surfing Back To China For Third Consecutive Year
La Jolla, California, November 11, 2014 - The International Surfing Association [ISA] has confirmed that a Chinese team will compete in the ISA China Cup for the first time ever, highlighting the growth of Surfing in new territories around the world.
Recently re-elected ISA President, Fernando Aguerre, made the landmark announcement as he unveiled plans for Surfing's return to China for the third consecutive year with two separate events - the ISA China Cup and the Hainan Classic - set to take place during the Hainan Wanning Riyue Bay International Surfing Festival from November 23-28 this year.
China will compete in the ISA China Cup for the first time ever alongside Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Costa Rica, Panama, Peru and South Africa who will also be competing for honors.
Following the completion of the ISA China Cup, the International Surfing Festival will continue with the Hainan Classic, an ASP [Association of Surfing Professionals] 4-star rated event, produced by the ISA, with a total prize purse of $95,000 USD. The winners of the event will also earn points that go towards qualification for the ASP World Tour.
